You have activated Weapon Enchantment Scroll, Grade D

If you wish to proceed with the enchantment now, place the weapon you wish to enchant on top of the scroll.

This process is irreversible.

Two.

I moved the swords closer to scroll but not exactly on top of it.

One.

With one final push, the weapons locked into position. The flash that signified the enchantment scroll being activated was much larger than the last time I’d enchanted my equipment and enveloped both of the swords. I momentarily raised my hand to protect my eyes from the intense light only to open them to see a huge pile of ash on top of the now blank, yellowed scroll. My swords had completely vanished. It took me a couple of seconds to realize that they were gone forever.

Rory’s pat on the back pulled me back from the sinking feeling of having lost a big gamble.

“It’s alright, lad,” he said and grinned at me. “Ye win some, ye lose some.”

“Did I do something wrong?” I asked, while also trying to calm myself for the next round.

“Of course ye didn’t,” he said. “Better keep enchanting though, now that ye’re warmed up and took a loss already.”

I nodded and followed the same procedure as before, equipping the swords and putting them back into my extra-dimensional inventory three times before counting down from four and placing them on the scroll. Again, the flash was brighter than when I enchanted the swords up to +3, but it wasn’t blinding like just before.

Keeping my focus on the handles of my swords, which were less bright, I realized the enchantment process was over and my swords were still there.
